![]() The Rain stayed away on Saturdays for the Junior Road Clinic. We had a good turnout of Juniors from various Junior teams from around the area. Coaches Craig Undem and Lizzy Peterson lead our junior competitors with some classroom overview, rules and license requirements of what to expect at a TT, Criterium and a Stage Race. The kids then rolled out of the parking lot to work on practical riding skills to use for this seasons Junior events. Thank you to Coach Craig and Coach Lizzy for agreeing to host this free clinic for our Juniors. It is so much appreciated! ![]() WSBA Racing Community!!! Cascade Bicycle Club is hosting the 4th Annual Major Taylor Project Spinathon, Thursday March 20 at Live Love Flow spin/yoga studio(Cap Hill) and Magnuson Athletic Club(Magnuson Park). The Spinathon is an excellent way to show your support for Cascade Bicycle Club's Major Taylor Project and to challenge yourself with an awesome workout. Sign up, ride, and donate for 1, 2, or all 3hrs! All of your efforts and donations will expand the Major Taylor Project in South and Southeast Settle. Last year’s Spinathon was a huge success raising $30,000. Let’s keep the success rolling to reach this year’s goal of $50,000! 100% of the evening’s proceeds will go towards reaching more students at our existing Major Taylor Project sites and to support the newly created Major Taylor Project Youth Leadership Retreat. The Major Taylor Project transforms and empowers underserved youth through bicycling, by promoting leadership, personal responsibility, and positive physical and social development. Named after Marshall "Major" Taylor, the turn of century African-American U.S. and world bicycle sprint champion, the Major Taylor Project is a year-round youth development program focused on creating access and opportunities for youth in diverse and underserved communities. The project shares the importance of bicycling, leadership, community activism, bicycle maintenance, safety, and the importance of working toward individual goals. http://www.wsbaracing.org/team-competition.html All,
As promised at the WSBA Cyclocross Planning meeting, I stated I would provide a draft structure of the WSBA Cyclocross series. Click here to see the draft structure and am glad to have an open conversation on it and take suggestions. I would also like to invite any of you who are hosting or considering hosting a USAC sanctioned race to be a part of the series. The tentative list of races is just based upon the interest and discussion that we had during the planning meeting. Please let me know if you have any comments concerns or additions. As we move forward I will set up a series of planning meetings between all of the interested parties. Thank you for your support, Jim Wood WSBA Cyclocross Director |
